I had just about decided not to do a Christmas letter this year then I got my Guidepost magazine and there was an article in it saying that of all years that this is the year to write to encourage and cheer up everyone.    I doubt if any of us could imagine a year like we have just gone through---COVID and all the restrictions plus an election like no other in history.  And probably the most important election is the history of our country.  We must pray for our country and leaders.

So here goes---an update on everyone.

Lee—is off the Bronte City Council so he will have more time to spend at his “Playground” and he keeps it looking like a playground.   He and Jim are planning to build another shed.  Someday I am going to count all the “wheels” that Lee owns!!

Janet—waiting for this COVID stuff to subside to sub in Bronte and Blackwell.  Coke County Retired Teachers, Sorosis Study Club, Bookies (book club) are on “hold” also.   ZOOM meetings are just not the same as in person.  Had right knee replaced on May 12.  Still working on getting strength back.

LeAnn--still at Brewer Middle School (White Settlement) teaching 8th Science

Ryan—Crowley ISD

Anna—Junior at North Crowley HS—still virtual

Ada—Freshman at Brewer HS

Jim—still Director of Safety and Security in Big Spring ISD

Carman—continuing as principal at Moss Elementary

Jordan—Junior at Stephen F. Austin

Carter—5th grade at BS Intermediate

Please call, write or come to see us.  “Old” friends are the best.

Sunday, January 30, 2018

Both kids and their families were here on Sunday, January 30 so we had a wonderful Christmas.  I went to church because I was scheduled to play the piano.  I made pizza dough and had all the toppings ready so when I got home the pizza was ready.  Homemade pizza is a Christmas tradition at our house.  THEN exchanging gifts and the kids humored me and we took family pictures.

Here is the whole family--

Christmas 2018

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE WOMMACKS!!

What is a Christmas letter without pictures, but that is what I have in 2018.  Just didn’t manage to get a family picture at Thanksgiving—everyone was here and we were busy.  I’ve done Christmas letters since the 60’s so why stop?  Let’s get on with the Wommack news for 2018- - -

I used to make fun of retired people who said that they didn’t know how they had time to work, but now I totally understand.  We are busy!!  Lee was elected to the city council and spends hours on that and he still keeps the Playground looking like a park.  I still sub at both Bronte and Blackwell, belong to a study club and book club.  Both of us are active in retired teachers, nursing home auxiliary, Sunday School and church activities.  Lee often says “There’s just not enough hours in the day.”

Now for the kids—LeAnn is still teaching 8th grade science at Brewer Middle School (White Settlement).  Ryan is with Ft. Worth ISD.  Anna is a Freshman at Brewer HS and Ada is in 7th grade at Brewer Middle School.  Jim is still Assistant Principal at Big Spring Junior High (how can anyone love an AP job, but he does!!), Carman has a new position as principal at Moss Elementary, Jordan is a Senior at BSHS and Carter is in the 3rd grade at Goliad Elementary.  I have heard “time flies when you’re having fun” and if that is true, we really are having fun.

Christmas is such a special time of the year—beautiful Christmas music, fun parties, delicious foods and spending time with family and friends.  But during all of this we need to take time and remember that we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ who came to earth to save us from our sins.  I am looking forward to thanking Him in person when I get to heaven.  Also, I will see Daddy, Mother, brother and other family PLUS all the great people I have read about in the Bible.  Praise God!!  Heaven will be great!!

Christmas 2017

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL YEAR LONG FROM THE WOMMACKS!!
January

I started the year off right by taking all of my girls to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine—one of our favorite places to go.

Jordan (Jim’s oldest) is a Junior at Big Spring High School.

Anna (LeAnn’s oldest) is in the 8th grade at White Settlement Middle School.

Carter (Jim’s youngest) is in the 2nd grade at Moss Elementary.

Ada (LeAnn’s youngest) is in the 6th grade at White Settlement Intermediate School.

LeAnn teaches 8th grade science at White Settlement Middle School.

Ryan teaches 6th grade social studies at Arlington Classics Academy.

Jim is associate principal at Big Spring Junior High.

Carman is assistant principal at Moss Elementary

February
Lee and I are still working with East Coke County Ambulance Service and we volunteered at the District Special Olympics Basketball Tourney.  Such an inspiration to watch the athletes and at the same time make us so thankful for our grandgirls.

March
Both of us are active in Retired Teachers.  I went to the TRTA Rally Day at the capitol in Austin.

April
I did lots of subbing in both Bronte and Blackwell.  Lee continues to make improvement at our property north of Bronte—The Playground!!

May
We went to Sierra Blanca to the 50th reunion of the “kids” who graduated while we lived there.  Lee spent three days in the hospital (May 15-17)—blood clot in right lung and pneumonia in left.

June
Lee returned to hospital on May 30.  A pulmonologist was called in and he was finally diagnosed with pleural empyema and after having two tubes inserted into his lung to drain fluid.  He got home on
June 5.   Both of us volunteered at the annual Save the Park Day the middle of the month.
July
We went to Ruidoso July 6-9 with Jim and his family.  Had a wonderful time!!  Carter spent several days here during the month.

August
Anna and Ada were here about two weeks and Carter was here for a few days.  That meant lots of time at the swimming pool.  I even broke down and let the girls go to the pool by themselves—then Lee and I went back and forth checking on them!!

September
We went to Gruver for the 60th reunion of the class of 1957.  Is it truly possible that I graduated 60 years ago?!?!?

October
We volunteered at the annual Brontoberfest.  Spent most of the morning at one of the ticket gates.  Well—Lee stayed at the gate and I took Carter to the park area.  We were in charge of the Weenie Races late in the afternoon.  That is the most fun time of Brontoberfest!!

November
We have so much for which to be thankful!!  LeAnn and her family came the weekend before Thanksgiving and Jim and his family came a couple of days before Thanksgiving, but they overlapped for one day so had both kids here for a short time.

December
Christmas is the time to celebrate our Savior’s birth.  And as we end the year of 2017, Lee and I would like to say “May the peace and beauty of the Christmas season remain with you throughout the new year of 2018!!”
