More NYC pictures

Wish I knew how to publish more than 5 pictures--here are some more!!

New York City, October 2010

I went to NYC with two friends in May 2009--and it was such a wonderful experience that when I had a chance to return I jumped at it!!

Fran Crumpler and I drove to DFW on Saturday, October 9 and left about noon on Sunday for Laguardia. It was about dark when we arrived so we checked into the Double Tree Times Square Hotel--right across from the discount ticket booth at Times Square. Walked a couple of blocks down 7th Ave. and headed to the hotel for an early bedtime.

Monday, October 11--Window shopped 3-4 blocks up 5th Avenue. I splurged and bought a charm at Tiffany's. Didn't buy anything at Faragama, Gucci, Cartier, Ralph Lauren, etc!! Watched a small part of the Columbus Day Parade and sat in a little of mass at St. Patrick's. The officiant was an archbishop from Italy--Columbus--get it?!?!? After lunch at Alice's Tea Cup we went to the Museum of Natural History where we took a 2 hour guided tour. Saw a FEW highlights because it would be possible to spend days and days and days and not see a fraction.

Wednesday, October 13--were in line for Regis and Kelly Live!! by 7:45 am. Morgan Freeman was the taped guest and Avanta Trump (Donald's daughter) was the other guest. After the show finished we watched a taping of the interview with Hilary Swank for the next day. Kelly is sooooooo tiny!! And cute as a bug, too!!

At 2 pm we saw Driving Miss Daisy with Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones--can't remember the son's name--they were the only three characters. It was 90 minutes without an intermission and it was truly wonderful!!

On the way home we had our pictures made with a Times Square icon--the Naked Cowboy. He's a very cute and entertaining young man.

Thursday, October 14--Took a bicycle buggy tour through the lower part of Central Park. After lunch at The World Market in the basement of the Time Warner Building we headed to Macy's. Walked all the way across the first floor and went to the basement--didn't have either the energy or time for the other TEN floors!! Fran wanted to go to Bleeker Street and then when we finally got there (via subway) she couldn't figure out why she wanted to go. We ended up in Greenwich Village and finally found a subway to take us to Times Square. We were pretty good at getting around via subway by this time. That evening we went to see West Side Story at the Palace Theater. The theater is absolutely beautiful and the show was wonderful.

Friday, October 15 we were at the airport by about noon. Left Laguardia about 1 and about a 3 hour layover in Atlanta and got to DFW about 9:45 PM. We were ready to get home so we made it to Bronte about 2:00 AM on Saturday morning.

ANOTHER TRIP OF A LIFETIME!!

MORE CIRCUS WEEKEND PICTURES

CIRCUS WEEKEND--AUGUST 12-14, 2010

Thursday, August 12

Jordan and I left Bronte at about 7:30 am and arrived at the Rothermel home about noon. I had to make a stop to leave my sewing machine at Berry Patch to be cleaned and serviced. LeAnn had a wonderful lunch of Egg Rolls and Fried Rice and then we all had a nice rest. We five girls ran some errands and then went to a park to play for a little while. Ryan met us at Cousin’s for supper and then we drove to Sweet Sammie’s for ice cream sandwiches. On the way home we stopped at Trinity Park to feed the ducks then home to bed.

Friday, August 13

Headed to Ft. Worth Convention Center about 8:45 am. Ryan drove my car so all six of us could go in one car. After parking at the parking garage across the street from the convention we went to the “Animal Open House” to see elephants, tigers, and horses!! The girls chose souvenirs with the money I had given them—THEN on to the circus!! We had seats on the aisle about four rows from the floor. We were barely in our seats before Ryan was chosen to play Musical Chairs with the clowns. He was an awesome circus performer!! A few minutes later Jordan and LeAnn were chosen to participate by Jordan levitating LeAnn. Another spectacular performance!! We enjoyed the clowns, animals, aerialists—we enjoyed it all!! After the circus we ate at La Familia. Then the girls played dress-up before baths and bed!!

Saturday, August 14

Jordan and I left about 8:30 am. We stopped at Wal-Mart and Hancock Fabrics on the way home. Got home about 1:30 pm. Tired but very happy!!

July 4, 2010

What a wonderful weekend!! Both of my kids and their families were here for two days of celebration. On Saturday, July 3 we went to the Blackwell parade and BBQ. We started going to this soon after we bought our cabin at Oak Creek in 1976—so it has been a family tradition for more than 30 years!! This year was the first time that the WHOLE family has gone in several years. The parade lasts all of 10 minutes, but the children love it and get to pick up candy. The BBQ was especially delicious this year—was it really that good, or was it because I was so happy?!?!? After we got home, we had fireworks—sparklers, smoke bombs, and “worms”. No noise and fun for the girls. (PS--this was also Lee's and my 48th wedding anniversary!!)

Sunday, July 4 we ALL went to the celebration at Bronte Health and Rehab Center. We had BBQ sandwiches again—delicious again!! Then we attended the fundraiser auction for the auxiliary. Jordan and Anna made Rice Crispy Treats to donate to sell (Ryan bought them for $40.00!!) and Jordan bought a pound cake. I am trying to teach my grandchildren the joy of volunteering and giving of yourself to others. All of them love to go with me to visit the residents at the nursing home.

I am so blessed to have a great husband, two children with wonderful spouses and four beautiful, healthy, intelligent granddaughters. AND we live in a country where we can really celebrate. To most of the world we are wealthy beyond belief. So selfish and sad that I don’t thank God enough for all of my blessings.

The top picture is of Anna and her "Schoolhouse Memories" quilt that I made for her 6th birthday. I gave it to her a few days early so I could see her reaction. She loved it!!

June 2010

Summer has started and so far it has been wonderful!! Bronte First Baptist Church had Vacation Bible School June 6-10 so Jordan spent the week with us and went swimming every afternoon and then attended VBS every evening. LeAnn and family came on Friday the 11 and left on Monday. Jim and family were here every day so our house was full, cluttered, busy, fun--just wonderful!! I take few pictures, but I do want to share just a few. I've got to get myself "unbusy" so I can take more pictures.

(1) The girls are having a "picnic" in the back yard. (2) Then they have a "house" in their room--better known as my sewing room. (3) LeAnn and Carter--not really a good picture of either, but the best that I have (4) Ada, LeAnn, Jordan, and Anna are having a good laugh at the pool.

March 2010

What a wonderful weekend. LeAnn and family got here Friday night then Jim and family came over to spend Saturday. That meant that I had all FOUR of my granddaughters here with me !! What a delight. I even managed to get a few pictures taken. Then Sunday afternoon Jim and Jordan came over. Jim golfed and Jordan went to "The Playground" with us. LeAnn and family left from there to go home.

Jordan's PTA Program at Holiman Elementary

I had the privilege of attending Jordan's program at Holiman Elementary on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Of course, she was the most beautiful and talented student in the choir. The 2nd grade sang "Wade in the Water" because of Black History Month and "Ragtime Cowboy Joe" in because the of the rodeo in San Angelo. I am so pleased that I could go with her. After the program we went to her room and I met her teachers, looked at all the stations, and saw some of her work.

LeAnn and family meet Carter

The Rothermels left midmorning Saturday, February 6 to go to San Angelo to meet Carter Leigh Wommack. What fun they must have had. I had obligations in Bronte so I didn't get to go with them. But it was good that my two kids and their families could just enjoy being together.

LeAnn and family visit

LeAnn and family got to Bronte Friday, February 5. Early the next morning Anna, Ada, and I fed Little Red. Anna spent most of the morning--it was rather cold--looking at, talking to, and petting Little Red.

Carter Leigh Wommack

Carter Lee Wommack arrived at 9:40 PM on Sunday, January 31, 2010. She weighed 7 lb. 8.5 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long. Of course, she is one of the most beautiful babies ever born--I have three other beautiful granddaughters, after all!! I spent Sunday through Tuesday in San Angelo with Jim and family. I left Tuesday after Carman's mother got there--they got home Tuesday about 2 o'clock!! Carman's mother will be there for a few days and then I will get to go back and stay a few days. What fun I'll have!! LeAnn and family will be here Friday night and they will go to meet Carter on Saturday. More fun!! I'll post again when I have pictures of all FOUR of my granddaughters.
